108 Sun Salutations at the Palace

This year we have a unique event for you: 108 Sun Salutations at the Brukenthal Museum!

The KeepGiving Yoga team, consisting of Andreea Miron, Madalina Jida, Teodora Radiciu, is waiting for you on Tuesday, December 26, at the Brukenthal Museum, for a yoga session: 108 Sun Salutations.

Our friends from Loop Yoga will be joining us. You will be able to practice 108 sun salutations on one of the mats they have provided.

Why 108 Sun Salutations:

Practicing 108 Sun Salutations at the end of the year is a tradition in yoga that has several meanings and benefits:

  1. Spiritual and Symbolic Meaning : The number 108 is considered sacred in many traditions. In yoga and Hinduism, there are 108 Upanishads (philosophical texts), 108 sacred places for Shiva (one of the main gods), and 108 energy points in the body. Also, in astronomy, the distance between the Earth and the Sun is approximately 108 times the diameter of the Sun.

  2. Purification and Transformation : By repeating this sequence, it is believed to purify the mind and body. It is a way to release old energy and welcome new energy, a symbol of the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.

  3. Concentration and Meditation : Performing 108 Sun Salutations requires concentration and mental endurance. This process can become meditative, helping the practitioner to remain present and aware.

  4. Strength and Physical Endurance : It is also an intense physical exercise, which helps strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and increase cardiovascular endurance.

  5. Releasing Stress and Emotions : Through movement and breathing, you can release accumulated stress and negative emotions, promoting a state of well-being and relaxation.

  6. Intention and Prayer : Many practitioners use this practice to set intentions or meditate on desires for the new year.

It is important to take into account your level of fitness and yoga experience, as 108 Sun Salutations can be quite demanding. For those new to yoga or with health issues, it is recommended that you send us a message beforehand and we can adapt the practice to your own limits and needs.

The event is FREE.

We look forward to seeing you!
